I spent 25 years in the Army as a diesel and power generation mechanic, operations supervisor and communications officer, and I'm an ABYC member trained on ABYC marine systems standards. Underway I log engines, charging and battery banks (lithium included), fuel and electronics, then hand you a punch list that notes anything short of ABYC standards, ready for your yard the day she arrives.

Meet your captain
A captain who knows the engine room
I'm Capt. Dan Pitman. I learned to sail keelboats while stationed in New England, with the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, as my home port, and have spent more than 20 years sailing the East Coast from Florida to New England, inside and outside the ICW. I've also skippered boats in the Bahamas, the BVI, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Belize.
I served 25 years in the Army as a diesel and power generation mechanic, operations supervisor and communications officer, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 (CW3) in 2014, the same year I launched Pitman Marine. I'm an ABYC member, trained on ABYC marine systems standards and at home with lithium battery systems. If you want an all-around captain who understands your boat's systems, that's what I bring.
